Dr. Art Hister graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 1970. In 197, he moved across the country to Vancouver to become the first full-time physician with the Pine Free Clinic, the first Canadian clinic established to deal exclusively with transient youth. Dr. Hister left the Pine Free Clinic in 1977 to enter private practice.
In 1991, Dr. Hister gave up his private practice to became a full-time "media doctor". Currently he hosts the national radio call-in show House Calls with Dr. Art Hister on the Corus Radio Network, he is a daily health analyst on the Morning News on Global TV in BC, he is a daily contributor to CKNW's Morning News with Philip Till, he is the resident health analyst for Up All Night on BBC 5, he is a health columnist for Global TV's Noon News and Weekend News, and he is the producer/host of Health Matters and Back to Health seen on Shaw Cable stations across western Canada.
Dr. Art is also the author of two Canadian bestsellers, Midlife Man and Dr. Art Hister's Guide to a Longer and Healthier Life, and numerous articles for publications including Reader's Digest, Vancouver Sun, The Globe and Mail, Western Living, and the Medical Post.
Currently, Dr. Hister is the honorary chairman of the BC Alzheimer's Society annual Walk for Memories, and he has recently won a 'Volunteer of the Year' Award from the Canadian Diabetes Association.
